6. Multiple Sheets
Be Wary of Multiple Sheets
CFO Scoreboard is designed to scan all the content of any financial documents that you provide to it. This includes hunting through every single sheet within each spreadsheet. This can sometimes cause issues when clients leave unintentional extra content in sheets they weren't paying attention to. This happens most commonly when clients have been working manually with spreadsheets, rather than using the direct exports from their accounting systems.
Demonstration
Take a look at these files below, and see if you can find the problem:
The error we saw is: Duplicate dates/months have been detected in the Income statement.
Solution
As you may have guessed, we have a case of duplicate data in these files. If you look into each you'll see that there are two sheets in each Excel file, and they seem to contain basically identical data. This is clearly the problem then -- CFO Scoreboard is finding two instances of each month in these sheets, and it can't automatically know which one is the "right" data set to import. That's where you come in!
Typically in these kinds of cases, you'd ask the client which sheet in each file is actually the right one that should be retained, and then make the amendment and complete the upload. In this particular case since it's easily visible that the two sheets are exact duplicates of one another, you could just delete the extra from each, and complete the upload.
